Japan House London is located on the corner of Kensington High Street and Derry Street, within a two-minute walk from High Street Kensington Station (see map) - so whether you’re London-based, or heading into the capital to visit Japan House London, there are many efficient travel options.

Visit AKIRA Restaurant

The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Making a reservation in advance is recommended. Book a table on the AKIRA Restaurant page.

Cloakroom

Please note that the cloakroom is currently closed for general visitors. It remains open for attendees of events (please see below regarding bag searching).

Bag searching and security

For the safety and security of our guests and staff, Japan House London has introduced bag searches. Japan House London works very closely with the Metropolitan police to deliver a safe and secure environment.

We have fully trained and dedicated security team on site, who monitor our premises each day. All our security and visitor experience staff are trained to ensure guests have a safe, secure, and enjoyable experience. If you see anything suspicious, please tell a member of staff.

To keep everyone safe and to protect our premises, your belongings may be searched on entering Japan House London or any of its spaces.

No sharp objects are permitted at any time (including knives and pen knives).

Please note we are unable to allow over-sized luggage into the Gallery.

COVID-19

Japan House London is a COVID-secure venue. Our staff continue to wear face coverings and from Tuesday 30 November 2021 guests are required by UK Government regulations to do the same. Please visit our COVID-19 webpage for more information on our continuing measures we have implemented to ensure your safety.

08 bike Bike

The Transport for London website shows the city's cycle highways and can help you plan your journey to Japan House London safely. Numerous cycle stands are available along Kensington High Street for parking your bike.

Alternatively there are four Santander Cycle Hire docking stations along Kensington High Street, and nine more within a ten-minute walk radius from Japan House London. Check the Santander website for more details.

Drivers can park within a five-minute walk from Japan House London at the Kensington High Street Car Park – Saba Parking on Hornton Street, W8 7NX. Other local parking options can be found on JustPark.

10 tube Tube

District and Circle lines to High Street Kensington (1 minute walk), Circle, District and Piccadilly lines to Gloucester Road (18 minute walk), and Central, Circle and District lines to Notting Hill Gate (13 minute walk). There is also the option to take the overground network to Kensington Olympia (24 minute walk).
