Japan House London is located on the corner of Kensington High Street and Derry Street, within a two-minute walk from High Street Kensington Station (see map) - so whether you’re London-based, or heading into the capital to visit Japan House London, there are many efficient travel options.

Visit AKIRA Restaurant

The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Making a reservation in advance is recommended. Book a table on the AKIRA Restaurant page.

Cloakroom

Our cloakroom is open for all visitors and attendees of events however, due to restricted space, we cannot accept any luggage larger than a cabin bag (56 × 45 × 21cm). Visitors to the exhibition are advised that all bags (except small shoulder bags) need to be stored in the cloakroom prior to entering and, as part of our security procedures, we may ask to search your bag before it is left. 

Security

Japan House London works very closely with the Metropolitan police and our security and visitor experience staff are trained to ensure guests have a safe, secure, and enjoyable experience. If you see anything suspicious, please let one of them know.

No sharp objects are permitted at any time (including knives and pen knives).

Please note that we are unable to allow over-sized luggage into the Gallery. Your cooperation in these matters is greatly appreciated.

Dogs

Well-behaved dogs that are small enough to be carried are welcome on the Ground Floor at Japan House London. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the building.

District and Circle lines to High Street Kensington (1 minute walk), Circle, District and Piccadilly lines to Gloucester Road (18 minute walk), and Central, Circle and District lines to Notting Hill Gate (13 minute walk). There is also the option to take the overground network to Kensington Olympia (24 minute walk).
