Join us in the Shop for an exclusive Meet the Maker event with sake producer, Niizawa Brewery. Led by experts from Niizawa, get the chance to learn about their brewing techniques and rich history, and to taste their Hakurakusei line of trademark 究極の食中酒 (kyūkyoku-no-shokuchūshu ‘ultimate food sake’).
Niizawa Brewery was established in 1873 in Miyagi Prefecture and specializes in producing sake that can be paired with food. Their Hakurakusei sake is made using a rice polishing technique that generates a delicate and refreshing sake. Hakurakusei has won multiple awards and can be enjoyed with meals on Japan Airlines.
The original brewery relocated after the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and despite the struggle, the brewery continued to expand. Niizawa Brewery is currently led by Nanami Watanabe, one of the youngest female sake brewmasters in Japan, and has been awarded first place in the World Sakagura (Sake Brewery) Ranking for three consecutive years since 2022.
Expand your palate and delve deeper into the world of sake on 8 March. Experts will be available to assist guests in selecting sake for any occasion, with a range of Niizawa products available for purchase in the Shop.
Please note that a Challenge 25 policy will operate during this event, and guests may be asked to show proof of age.
Please note that filming and/or photography may take place at this event. Photos and footage of the event may then be used to promote Japan House London, helping more people to discover what we offer. If you have any concerns, please email [email protected] or contact a member of the team on site.
