The book display at the corner of the Travel Information Area continues to showcase general books about Osaka, alongside newly added books on two artists: Sou Fujimoto and Okamoto Tarō. These books relate to Expo 2025 (which is held in Osaka from 13 April to 13 October 2025) and Expo ’70, the first universal exposition to be held in Japan and Asia in 1970.
Sou Fujimoto is an internationally known architect who has designed the symbol of Expo 2025, ‘The Grand Ring,’ which is one of the largest wooden structures in the world at 12 metres high and approximately 2 km in circumference.
Okamoto Tarō (1911-1996) is the artist who designed the ‘Tower of the Sun’ for Expo ’70. Created as a symbol of the Expo’s theme of ‘Progress and Harmony of Mankind’, the tower still exists and attracts people to Osaka. A figure of Okamoto Tarō’s ‘Tower of the Sun’ is also on display.
