The current book display at the corner of the Travel Information Area focuses on Hiroshima.
Hiroshima is known as a city of peace and culture, home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Atomic Bomb Dome and Itsukushima Shrine, famous for its massive torii gate rising from the sea. The city centre features the Peace Memorial Park and is served by Japan’s largest tram network.
There is a wealth of cultural attractions, including Shinshōji Zen Museum and Gardens, a place to experience the spirit of Zen through a variety of activities, and the Shimose Art Museum, designed by world-renowned architect Ban Shigeru.
In sport, the professional baseball team, the Hiroshima Tōyō Carp, enjoys the support of a passionate fanbase. The craft of Kumano brushes is favoured by make-up artists worldwide, whilst oysters and okonomiyaki are culinary staples.
Hiroshima is also renowned for its beautiful scenery. The Shimanami Kaidō coastal route, which connects the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, attracts cyclists from all over the world.
The book display at Japan House also include a photo book of Mazda Motor Corporation, one of Japan’s leading car manufacturers, which was founded in 1920 in Hiroshima, and a model car of Mazda Iconic SP.
