Travel options to Japan House London during June 2026 Tube strikes

Tube strikes are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 2, and Thursday 4 June 2026. It is still possible to travel to Japan House London on those dates, so please see below for details of alternative routes.

Tube lines

• The District Line is scheduled to run with a reduced service
• The Victoria Line is scheduled to run with a reduced service. Change at Victoria with two alternatives:
  • Stop at Gloucester Road and walk
  • Change District Line directions at Earl’s Court
• Taking the Elizabeth Line to Paddington, there are a few options:
  • Change to District Line and either stop at Gloucester Road and walk, or change district line directions at Earl’s Court
  • Change to bus 27 for direct route from Paddington Station / Eastbourne Terrace to High Street Kensington Station

Buses that stop at the High St Kensington Station stop:

• 9: Aldwych ↔ Hammersmith
• 27: Hammersmith ↔ Camden Town / Chalk Farm
• 28: Kensal Rise ↔ Wandsworth
• 49: Clapham Junction ↔ White City
• 328: Golders Green ↔ Chelsea

 

Buses stopping within a 5-10 minute walk (stops around Kensington Church Street / Holland St):

• 52: Victoria ↔ Willesden
• 70: South Kensington ↔ Chiswick Business Park
• 452: Vauxhall ↔ Notting Hill Gate

 

Other bus stops with a slightly longer walk:

• Earl’s Court Road stops (more westbound routes)
• Notting Hill Gate bus corridor
• Kensington Church Street corridor
