Wrapping Workshop
In Japan, wrapping an object is not just a practical means of covering it up, but an art form in itself.
The Japanese culture of wrapping dates back to the Jōmon period (Japan’s prehistoric period, approximately 14,000-1000 BCE), developing over several thousand years and encompassing many different types of wrapping.
During the workshop, participants learn about the history of wrapping in Japan, before learning practical skills in using both furoshiki (square cloths) and tenugui (rectangular cloths) to wrap a variety of objects. This introductory workshop will give participants the skills needed to continue this sustainable practice in their daily lives.
