The Stand at JHL 1960w

The Stand is a takeaway drinks and snack bar at the entrance of Japan House, on the ground floor. Stop by to try authentic Japanese teas, such as hot or iced matcha, hōjicha and sencha teas, as well as hot or iced matcha latte and hōjicha latte.

This winter season, The Stand has added another type of Japanese tea to its menu. Iribancha (also known as Kyobancha) is a green tea from Kyoto Prefecture, characterized by its smoky aroma and a distinct deep flavour. It is naturally low in caffeine and contains significantly less of it than other green teas which makes it perfect for enjoying throughout the day as well as in the evening. Try iribancha at The Stand or buy Ippodo’s Iribancha One-Pot Teabags in The Shop to enjoy at home. Learn more about the varieties of Japanese tea.

Kissaten coffee is also available at The Stand. It is named after old style Japanese tearooms, kissaten, that also serve coffee and sweets. The coffee is brewed with the pour over method, using specialist kit from Japanese manufacturer HARIO. A selection of baked goods is on offer Saturday to Monday each week, which consists of seasonally flavoured cakes and biscuits with a Japanese twist.
