DASSAI Sake Tasting

獺祭

1000x543
On Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July 2019 Japan House London will present two tutored tastings of DASSAI – a sake series hailing from Asahi Shuzo brewery in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.

Two different varieites of the award-winning DASSAI range will be served at these tasting sessions, which will be facilitated by TSUCHIYA Madoka from Asahi Shuzo.

DASSAI 23
This sake is often hailed by critics as the ‘perfect’ sake. It has countless awards to its name; from a 2013 International Wine Challenge Trophy, to the 2012 International Sake Challenge Junmai Daiginjo award, and has been in high demand internationally. DASSAI 23 is a crisp, delicate sake with a honey-like hint of sweetness. It pairs well with vegetables, fish and tofu, and is best served chilled or at room temperature.

DASSAI 45
Launched on 1 April 2019, this sake is an update on Asahi Shuzo's DASSAI 50. Continuously seeking to improve on their range, this new edition is polished to 45%, improving the quality and taste of this popular everyday sake. DASSAI 45 is best served chilled or at room temperature, and goes well with chicken, cheese and tempura.

About DASSAI
DASSAI is a series of sake produced by Asahi Shuzo, a brewery based in Yamaguchi Prefecture in the south of Honshu, Japan’s main island. The name 'DASSAI' reflects the ancient name for this region of Japan. The brewery’s philosophy is founded on avoiding complacency to ensure that existing techniques are constantly reformed and revolutionised. Asahi Shuzo pride themselves on brewing sake year-round - something often unheard of in the sake industry - using only the finest quality Yamada Nishiki rice across their sake range.

DASSAI sake is available from The Shop at Japan House.
