Bicycle Design for Urban Mobility: Talk with populomobile founder Yamada Atsuhiko

talk by Japanese industrial designer YAMADA Atsuhiko at Japan House London

Join us for a talk by Japanese industrial designer and founder of  populomobile Ltd. Yamada Atsuhiko. A car designer known for his work as Advanced Design Director at Mazda Motor Corporation and Isuzu Motors Ltd., Yamada created populomobile in Kamakura, Japan in 2017 to promote new forms of urban mobility.

The company's first product is the innovative U-frame bicycle 'populo1'. Designed especially for urban dwellers, the bicycle aims to transform the way people get around their city. Fusing cutting edge technology with craftsmanship, its pure and simple design and distinctive low ‘straddling point’ have been designed to suit any lifestyle or aesthetic.

During his talk, Yamada discusses the philosophy which underpins the bicycle’s innovative design; his prototyping and development process; and his visions for the future of urban cycling style and culture.

The talk will be followed by a reception with Asahi Super Dry generously provided by Asahi UK and a selection of sake generously provided by Sake Samurai.
