On entering Japan House, guests step into The Shop which occupies the majority of the ground floor. The space blurs the lines between a shop and a gallery. It introduces Japanese products: their provenance and the artisans and designers who make them. Read on to find out more about the kinds of things you will find in The Shop at Japan House London.

Coinciding with the Architecture for Dogs exhibition now on at Japan House is a new range of products at The Shop that aim to bring joy to dogs and their human companions. Guests can purchase and assemble their very own Wanmock, as seen in the exhibition and created by Torafu Architects, as well as a collection of dog-themed books and stationery, dog toys and accessories.

Monozukuri

From crafts rooted in Japanese traditions and one-of-a-kind pieces by artists, to products reflecting cutting-edge technology or the design trends of the time, the Japanese passion for monozukuri*, meaning craftsmanship, has continued to evolve with the times. We would like to share with you the pleasure and beauty of functional everyday Japanese products.

* monozukuri: mono means ‘thing’; zukuri means 'making'. This word stands for the concept and the spirit of making and craftsmanship, including handmade crafts and large-scale manufacturing.

Food, Drink, Kitchen and Tableware

We introduce authentic Japanese food culture, including food, drink, kitchen utensils and tableware according to the seasons.
