Volunteers are a recognised and highly valued part of Japan House London. Working alongside other volunteers and staff, the aim is to provide an exceptional visitor experience, maintain the highest standards and create a professional, informative and friendly environment for all.

Volunteers give their time freely to support Japan House. We recognise that we benefit enormously from this and, in return for your time, abilities and enthusiasm, we hope to give you an opportunity to develop your skills and interests, and to meet new people.

Who are our volunteers?

A volunteer is anyone who supports Japan House by offering their time, commitment, skills and energy for free. A volunteer should be committed to the volunteer hours we agree, with a minimum engagement of 3 months and at least two 3-hour shifts per month.
Japan House involves volunteers from age 16 upwards, with no upper age limit.

Our volunteers include individuals engaged in long-term or short-term roles and projects, those on work placements, HE and graduate students on internships, school students on work experience placements, and others.
