2021 日本と欧州が直面する安全保障課題
Professor Takamizawa Nobushige is a Japanese expert on security policy, crisis management, disarmament, and cybersecurity. He served as Permanent Representative of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva from 2016 to 2020.
In this online talk he provided a guide to national security issues facing Japan and Europe in the year 2021. Highlighting key common challenges and areas of potential cross-border cooperation, Professor Takamizawa looked at developments in arms control and disarmament policy; and the involvement of defence organizations in tackling urgent transnational challenges such as pandemics and climate change and working to meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Amid the recent growing interest of the UK, France, Germany and other European countries in the Indo-Pacific, Professor Takamizawa also examined Japan’s potential role in bridging this engagement to uphold a rules-based international order in the region.
