Ceramics
Ceramic production is one of Japan's oldest crafts, and many of its renowned styles come from one of its rokkoyō (six ancient kilns). Ceramic styles in Japan are often named after their place of origin, combined with the suffix '焼' (pronounced 'yaki' or 'ware') meaning 'fired', such as Bizen-ware or Arita-yaki.
