Born in Hokkaido in 1971 and a graduate of the University of Tokyo, Department of Architecture, Sou Fujimoto established Sou Fujimoto Architects in 2000. Since then, Fujimoto has worked on a broad list of commissions, ranging from domestic to institutional works. Some of his most notable works include Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2013, House NA (2011), House N (2008) and Musashino Art University Museum & Library (2010). Fujimoto’s signature buildings often discuss the relationship between architecture, nature and the urban environment. As part of the exhibition SOU FUJIMOTO: FUTURES OF THE FUTURE and 'Architecture is Everywhere', both held in collaboration with Tokyo’s TOTO GALLERY・MA, Sou Fujimoto explains - in this interview for Japan House London - the concept behind his work as an architect and his vision of the future.
